I have been in the industry since 1983, working for Ashman’s Roofing for 11 years until 1994 when I formed Gullery Roofing with my wife and business partner Helen. Some of my work includes service stations, bread factories, freezing works, entire rest homes, show homes, residential homes, wall cladding, large commercial buildings, butynol decking and roofing, gutters, underslung canopies, full curved barns, bull nose verandas, clip lock roofing, slate roof tiles, decromastic tiles & concrete tiles to name a few.
We moved to Queensland in 2004 for several years. I supervised for a roofing company dealing with architects and building supervisors, dealt with all the health and safety issues and roofing gangs on a daily basis before going back to self-employment and employing one other staff member for 6 years. In this time I worked on many different new buildings such as duplex, high set and low set homes, educational services and the one I am most proud of would be Emerald Lakes, known as the French Quarter, in the heart of the Gold Coast in which I fitted the roof and wall cladding. I also completed my trade cert in Australia in 2008.
On returning to NZ in 2011 I resurrected Gullery Roofing once again. I designed and developed my own edge protection system which I had certified, as I knew this was soon to become paramount in the industry. I now employ three staff members, Chris, Hamish and Issac. I constantly receive feedback from clients as to their friendly helpful natures and good work ethics. We are a home-based family business, therefore lower overheads which in turn rubs off in our pricing. I am still hands on and work with the boys, while Helen does the administration side. I am very passionate about my work and always like to finish each job, all be it big or small, with the same pride I would expect if it was my own home.
I am a Licensed Building Practitioner and an accredited applicator of Ardex Butynol.

It is gratifying to discover that there are still people in the workforce who obviously take pains to ensure that quickness does not equate with cutting corners.
